On class in the nonprofit sector

Classism is such a thing.

I’m REALLY tired of being around people who think that their personal relationship with money is universal.

I’m REALLY tired of being around people who send me dozens of little implicit messages that remind me I don’t fit in their financially privileged world.

I’m REALLY tired of being around people who make me feel different and, frankly, uncomfortable.

I’m really, really tired of rich people. Why I ever went into fundraising, I’ll never know.

Everyday there’s some new thing I wish I could just scream. Here’s a few recent ones: Being able to afford international travel is unattainable for many (most?) people!!!! Dropping like $100 on a meal is a big deal!!!! “Just using valet” is not something everyone is comfortable with!!!! Shopping at Anthropologie “all the time” is not normal!!!!

SOME OF US DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO GENERATIONAL WEALTH!!!!
